Don’t worry, there are only 68 days until the new National League North season begins.
The summer transfer season is well in the swing of things and the past weekend saw the latest addition arrive at Chester, with goalkeeper Luke Hewitson arriving on a two-year deal from Fleetwood Town.
Hewitson’s signing follows that of Jacob Hazel and George Burroughs in the past 10 days as the Phil Parkinson era at the Deva Stadium starts to take shape.
There were some farewells, too, with long-serving Iwan Murray exiting the club for pastures new at Connah’s Quay Nomads, while Tom Davies gave his own farewell on social media, and former Blues midfielder Fin Shrimpton found a new home in Cheshire, this time at Macclesfield.
This week’s edition of The Breakdown looks at our newe permanent goalkeeper, assesses why Davies, Murray, Shrimpton, and likely Lewis Leigh, moved on, and what the transfer business will look like in terms of incomings over the next few weeks, as Parkinson builds a squad fit for the style of football that he wants to implement for the 2026/27 season.
