This week saw Chester’s new-look squad under Phil Parkinson return for pre-season training at the King George V Sports Hub in Blacon.
Parkinson welcomed his 11 new recruits to the KGV, which included the most recent addition in former South Shields midfielder Dan Ward, as well as familiar faces returning to action for the Blues ahead of what promises to be a fascinating 2026/27 National League North campaign.
Among those returning was midfielder Jack Bainbridge, and we explain a little more about his status in The Breakdown this week, while we also touch on the new additions, both on and off the field, with Parkinson having built out his support staff as he looks to maximise the model, the budget and the facilities.
We also take a look at the situation with regards to potential training compensation for Lewis Leigh, after the midfielder opted not to pen a new deal at the Deva Community Stadium in favour of a two-year contract with National League North newcomers Morecambe.
All this, and more, is in this week’s edition of The Breakdown. Episode Six of the 2026/27 season.
