Chester chairman reveals latest in manager search after some talks already held
Nick Phillipson says that the Blues may not yet have to advertise for post
When it comes to squad planning, for Chester’s 2026/27 campaign it will be done by a new man at the helm.
As has been well documented, current boss Calum McIntyre will see his four-year reign as Blues manager come to an end following the culmination of this current National League North campaign, the baton being passed to another, with his successor not yet determined.
Last week it emerged via sources that the club were hopeful of having an agreement with the new boss reached within the next four weeks, all being well, and that initial discussions had already taken place with one candidate the Blues Board had wanted to speak to before the applications for the vacant post were formally advertised for.
Whether or not the Blues role even gets advertised from here are still up in the air, with the club having already been impressed with the calibre of candidate that has expressed an interest in taking on the job, and exploratory discussions with the one candidate having been positive in tone on both sides.
There are some obvious names in the frame.
