I’ve only seen the Vauxhall and Crewe games, but of the new players, I’ve been impressed by Reed, Ward, Griffin, Abreu, Kenny and McHale.
Hewitson looks assured, vocal and comfortable playing out from the back but barely needed to make a save in the two games I’ve seen. Hazel works hard, but needs to start hitting the target. Not too sure where Waters fits in if everyone is fit. Woodthorpe and Weeks both look up for it.
I never read much into pre-season performances, but I’ve been impressed how quickly the squad seem to have gelled despite so many changes.
Parky mentioned it himself, but I do seem to recall that Alty were usually slow starters under Parky and with our poor starts in recent years it doesn’t exactly bode well, but I’m intrigued to see where this season takes us.
Early days of course, but I have been underwhelmed by two of the attacking options so far. Plenty of goals in this enterprising team though so trying not to feel worried by the strike force.
I think Weeks has been excellent in pre-season, ditto Griffin. Reed is so versatile and oozed class and confidence this afternoon. I also really like the new keeper and was pleased to be impressed by Burroughs who I thought had his best game so far today.
First chance to see this new look Chester against a solid EFL side in Crewe who gave our defence a really good test, which they came through with flying colours.
GK and a solid back 4 , with Sam Reed an exciting prospect on that performance.
Midfield was ok competitive at times, Makel Campbell put his marker down for a starting spot.
Jacob Hazel will be a handful in this league the CF we have missed over last few yrs.
Still think Peers is Not a right winger, although he gave everything.
The Subs, Dom McHale looks a handful and young Conner Murphy in midfield looks another prospect, was good to see another younger Issac Burgess having solid 20mins at the end.
Don't worry too much, I think there are goals all over the pitch this season. Reed has been the stand out to me in the friendlies I've seen, he will cause mayhem running at defences. I'm far more confident this season than previous. At least I won't be going to games expecting a turgid sideways game.

Looking forward to a trip to Chorley

Looked good today against a league 2 side but I do worry we won’t score enough goals I hope I’m wrong
