Chester FC are ‘teetering on the edge’ of a potential fine or sanctions from authorities in relation to fan behaviour, according to the club chairman, Kieron Shiel.

Earlier this month, the Blues released a statement expressing the need to address what has been an increase in anti-social behaviour at matches, with eight identified, and with the FA, at national and local level, and the National League wanting to crack down on such such behaviour, the Blues are mindful that further breaches could come at a significant price.

This week saw the Blues’ National League North rivals Radcliffe FC expelled from the Manchester Premier Cup by Manchester FA due to supporter behaviour. It is a decision that has been appealed by Radcliffe.

Chester have been subject to sanctions themselves in recent years, most notably following the trouble that occurred after the National League North play-off semi-final defeat by Brackley Town at the Deva Stadium in May 2023. A number of football banning orders were handed out following an investigation.
