Dylan Mottley-Henry heads the winner (TOM GREEN)

A win is a win, which renders all before it rather pointless.

But in terms of a spectacle, Chester’s 1-0 win at home to Buxton over, while on the face of it a good result, a classic this was not. It was a hard watch for long periods.

A Dylan Mottley-Henry header four minutes from time handed the Blues the spoils, but they had laboured despite having a man advantage for almost the entirety of the game after former Chester striker Kurt Willoughby was sent off on 90 seconds for a straight red offence, kicking out at new signing Tom Davies.

The reality is that it is seven points from nine in a week Chester and embattled boss Calum McIntyre had to glean something positive. The YouTube highlights will be brief, the analysis not much more in-depth. It was a game of precious little quality from either side, but one where Chester, despite the mounting pressure to get a win from a game where a numerical advantage has been had near enough throughout, stuck at it long enough to get the job done. Just about.
