The Debrief: A club statement, a Radcliffe loss, and what next for Chester?
The Blues slumped to their seventh defeat in 10 games while a decision was made
Whatever would have taken place at the Deva Stadium on Saturday afternoon would have been overshadowed by the events that preceded it.
Chester announced at 11.30am on Saturday morning that manager Calum McIntyre would be leaving his position at the end of the current season.
The Blues had been on a dismal run of form in the run up to their 3-1 home reverse at the hands of Radcliffe, managed by former Chester bosses Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley, having lost six out of nine. That would become seven out of the last 10 and the Blues are now seven points off the play-off places in the National League North and looking far from equipped to make any such run for the top seven.
