Former Altrincham manager Phil Parkinson, one of the names most closely linked with the Chester manager role for next season, has taken up a new position - but he remains in the frame for the Blues job.

Parkinson, 44, left the National League side back in October after a poor start to the season, and ever since it was announced last month that the Blues would be parting company with current boss Calum McIntyre at the end of this current National League North season the ex-Nantwich Town chief has been the front runner for the post when it becomes vacant.
