Pat Jones on Chester lifeline, missing chances and January interest
Blues winger has been a standout performer since his arrival in August
Having broken through in the Championship with Huddersfield Town in 2020 after progressing through the youth ranks, Pat Jones has already experienced the EFL at a high level.
There is a video on YouTube from August 2022, where the Terriers are 2-0 down to Norwich City at Carrow Road. Chasing the game, Huddersfield brought on Jones in the hope of igniting something. He receives the ball down the right channel before driving at his marker, advancing into the box and smashing the ball home.
It was Jones’ only goal in his 18 appearances in all competitions for the Yorkshire side, but the Ruthin youngster had seen his stock rise with the former Premier League outfit, and were it not for the cruel hand that injury deals, he would have seen more of it.
He left Huddersfield during last season after finding opportunities becoming more limited, with a switch to Exeter City for an undisclosed fee seeing him remain in League One after the Terriers had been relegated the season prior.
The deal was for a year, initially, with the option for a second. But after 17 games last term for the Grecians, Jones, now 22, was released from the Devon side in August of this year. Wanting to come back closer to home, with his family home in Ruthin still, the winger was snapped up by Chester. Blues boss Calum McIntyre needed little convincing.
