I’d mulled over what I should write about today’s game, but sometimes you can just over think something and give it greater significance than it really needs to have.
This National League North season is 46 games long. Nobody was doing an Arsenal and going unbeaten, and with now 39 games remaining of this campaign, Chester certainly won’t be. A clipped ball from free kick on the edge of the area that was flicked on by Lewis and wrong-footed everyone bemused many of the home fans as it had been entirely the kind of thing that they had not looked like doing before today.
THE LONG AND THE SHORT OF IT
As Parkinson would admit in his post-match analysis, Chester did not do enough to win the game today. But neither did Morecambe, and while the Shrimps have had a poor start to this season they were the bookies’ favourites for promotion, and the off-field issues have been what has been weighing heavy, issues which, apparently, are slowly moving towards being sorted.
