An experienced goalkeeper is crucial and Parkinson is absolutely right to prioritise this. Teams that go up from this league almost always have experienced keepers and our experiment of using young loanees had run its course.
Although we had been blessed with a few young GK, last season proved our luck had run out.
What a breath of fresh air Phil is bringing to our Summer recruitment and in my simple opinion having our own young prospect of a GK is the making of a winning successful season.
Fleetwood are claiming that a fee was involved, which makes sense. Why else would they release a highly rated goalkeeper ? Looking forward to seeing him play.
Parkinson seems focused on the positives that Chester provide in terms of our heritage, our fanbase and the potential as opposed to focusing on what limits us which is of course our spending power. That’s refreshing and I hope he can build that type of mentality into the team. I don’t necessarily expect great things next season. I think it’s going to be a transitional year. But if we can make the play offs again then who knows where that mentality could take us. Of course that will all be challenged when we have a poor run, which we will, but I have a feeling that he will more than cope. Good stuff. UTS

Hopefully it's the right call, works out well and he gets sold on for a big fee 🤞
A few bits:
- Same age as Murray-Jones
- Played 42 games in 23/24 season at step 3 (so more mens football than GMJ, albeit 2 years ago)
- 4 matches at Warrington and 6 for Wythenshawe
- Released by a League 2 club but Murray-Jones bought for £1m and retained by Forest
- Given a 2 year contract, which the previous manager was criticised for
I hope he's better than GMJ and that it all works out well 🤞
