Iwan Murray against Spennymoor Town (CHARLIE STOCKTON)

Thanks for subscribing to The Seal.

This is the biggest weekend of the season, with Chester heading into a huge clash against King’s Lynn Town and everything still on the line, for both teams. Do we extend our season for at least another week or is this where one era ends and another begins? The mood around the squad, the detail going into preparation, the bodies being patched up, those who could return, the belief building, it all feels like a moment. We’ve been here before, but the nerves are no less fraught. It’s times like this we crave for.

Your support as a subscriber means you get the story behind the story: deeper analysis, exclusive interviews, behind‑the‑scenes insight, and the kind of independent context that disappeared along with the shrinking of local sports coverage. It helps us keep telling the story of this wonderful football club with honesty, creativity, and journalistic rigour at a time when the sports media has become rife with clickbait and ad-laden websites that can be impossible to read. This is us following the lead of clubs like Huddersfield Town and Port Vale and doing something a little different in the face of a changing media landscape.

Since we launched The Seal in December 2025 the feedback we have received has been fantastic, and it enabled us to bring independent journalism back to Chester Football Club after it disappeared despite being a fixture of the club for more than 130 years.

Thank you to everybody who has subscribed and supported the project, there is much more planned for 2026 and beyond.

If you’ve not subscribed then you can get access to all the latest Blues news, views, opinions, exclusives and podcasts for £5 a month. The price of a pretty average Starbucks coffee. There is also the option of a free trial for a week to see whether or not it’s for you. We hope it will be, and with at least four pieces per week (often more), 52 weeks of the year, there’s a lot of content for your money.

Here’s the latest issue.
