"If there was, I’d go" - Calum McIntyre speaks on Chester plan after Blues future decided
McIntyre will leave the club at the end of the season, it has been announced
Calum McIntyre won’t be Chester manager next season. That much we already know.
The announcement that McIntyre would be leaving his position at the end of the current campaign, when his deal comes to an end, was communicated at the weekend, hours before Chester went on to fall to a 3-1 loss at home to Radcliffe.
The rationale behind the timing of the statement was curious to some, downright wrong to others. The idea behind it, however, was that it would provide some clarity for the fans, the players and the staff over what happens next.
McIntyre, who at 32 has already served six years as a first-team manager in senior men’s football, and whose association with Chester goes back more than a decade in a working capacity as part of, and then head of, a very successful, youth academy, and even further when considering the years he spent as a fan standing on the Harry McNally Terrace, will seek pastures new next season. The club will start the search to find the person who replaces him.
