"I know I'm not popular" - Calum McIntyre knows he has to fix Chester problem
The Blues boss spoke to The Seal ahead of this weekend's clash with Chorley
For most football managers, life is something that happens when the football schedule allows, when it isn’t all consuming and focused entirely on achieving short-term success to preserve a long-term goal.
The life of a football manager is often a short one. At the end of December 2024, the average tenure of managers across both the Premier League and EFL was a little over one-and-a-half years. It is not a job for the faint hearted, nor is it one that comes without scrutiny and criticism.
Calum McIntyre will have been Chester manager for four years by the time May comes around. What happens between now and then will determine whether that is as far as the relationship goes, as the Blues attempt to chase down a play-off spot in the National League North but find themselves in a slump in terms of results. The performances may have warranted more, but football is a results business, and that is how managers are judged.
