Festus Arthur has another Chester chance
Defender has done enough to impress Blues boss Calum McIntyre in recent games
For a period, Festus Arthur had become something of a forgotten man at Chester.
Signed from Southport back in September, the German-born central defender started four National League North games in a row after his arrival before featuring in the 3-0 FA Cup first round loss at Cambridge United.
That game, on November 1, was to prove his last for Chester until injuries and illness in the squad saw him take a starting role in the 2-0 win over Macclesfield on December 30. He had been in just one matchday squad prior to that, too, the 3-1 defeat at AFC Telford United on Boxing Day.
A dominating presence in the backline, the former Barrow, FC Halifax Town and Stockport County man’s somewhat agricultural yet functional style of play might not have entirely endeared him to the Blues faithful so early on, but his absence from the scene for almost two months made it appear as if his Chester future would be limited.
