Chester manager search nears its end, while new names throw hats into the ring
The Blues are hopeful of reaching an agreement with the new boss in next fortnight
Chester could announce their new manager as early as next week, although they won’t be taking over before the current season ends.
The Blues parted company with Calum McIntyre after the 2-1 win over Spennymoor Town on Saturday, bringing forward his departure, which had been set for the end of the season upon the expiry of his contract.
Connell Rawlinson, the club’s first-team coach, has been placed in charge of the team for the remainder of the National League North season, with his first game in charge coming this weekend with the visit of play-off chasers Darlington to the Deva Stadium on Saturday.
The search for McIntyre’s permanent successor from this summer has been ongoing since it was announced in January that the manager would be leaving, with the Blues board having received expressions of interest in the position from far and wide, including those currently managing abroad and those with CVs that have management in European competition on them.
