Chester face illness woe ahead of Macclesfield as McIntyre urges faith to be kept
The Blues host Cheshire rivals Macclesfield in their final game of 2025
The games come thick and fast during the festive period, and for Chester, while wanting to put right two defeats on the spin, that isn’t a great thing right now.
A side that was seven unbeaten heading into the December 20 clash with South Shields, picking up 13 points from 18 on offer, has now lost two on the bounce, and in football the positive sentiment can disappear rapidly.
The manner of the 3-1 loss to AFC Telford United on Boxing Day was particularly galling. While a rally early in the second half gave rise to hope around a valiant comeback, the reality was the first period was so poor that it was hard to gloss over it. Impossible, in fact.
There were some mitigating factors that contributed to a disjointed and weak performance, and the absence of both Hayden Carson and Lewis Leigh impacted the Blues negatively, of that there was no doubt.
