This has been a punishing two weeks for Chester, from both a competitive and confidence aspect.
The 3-1 reverse at Buxton on Saturday had elements of a hard luck tale in that the Blues controlled much of the first half before the host’s opener, and after levelling through Billy Waters on 37 minutes, the most ridiculous of decisions from referee Ben Tomlinson, who pointed to the spot on 41 minutes after Sisa Tuntulwana had judo thrown himself to the ground under minimal pressure from Declan Weeks changed the face of the contest.
But for all ifs, ands and buts, Chester’s main issue was on show once more.
The Blues came into the contest having had a mixed start. Four wins from the opening four games gave rise to plenty of hope as the Phil Parkinson era got off to the perfect start.
