Over the course of the next few weeks there will be a number of new faces coming into the Chester squad.

After the departures of James Jones and Offrande Zanzala on a permanent basis, the recall of defender Hayden Carson from his loan spell from Wolverhampton Wanderers, and other issues such as injuries and a lack of form, means that the make-up of the side may change quite a bit.

Given the struggles in front of goal, a striker has been at the top of the wishlist, with Blues boss Calum McIntyre wanting to add two strikers, while a new full-back addition is close, and the club have had to go back into the market for a central defender after Carson’s exit.

The route Chester will almost certainly go down will be loans. The reason? The Blues need to maximise bang for their buck and limit risk, as well as the fact that the current state of play with wages in the market for players who may be available for permanent transfer means that it is a market Chester just can’t sensibly partake in.
