As always an excellent article and agree with all in it, particularly the comments that Connell has achieved a bigger victory in that he has restored pride and unity between the fans, club and players. We go again next season.
Yet another excellent piece Dave that just about sums up the lead up to and the match.
Connell, his support team and every player who played a part in those 11 games, need to be congratulated and praised for there efforts and dedication to our club.
However when the dust settles after bank holiday Monday, our new manager will no doubt already have in mind who from the squad left to Connell will he like to keep.
In my opinion I believe he will be going all out to win this league and some supporters going to be disappointed when a few of Calum’s favourite will no longer be with us.
Would love to see Connell’s back 3 with us again, but 2 out that 3 will certainly move onto higher divisions.
Clean sheet, New Manager,New Squad, … Let’s all get behind the club and at a minimum equal this year’s Boost The Budget.💙💙
I thought that we’d been fairly lucky with injuries this season compared to previous, but these last few weeks seems to have taken its toll on the squad.
When you lose the likes of Pat Jones (sold), Kev Roberts (retired), Murray, Bainbridge, Kelly-Evans, Carson and then Shrimpton and DMH last night then then it’s remarkable how this team managed to achieve a playoff spot, but frustrating that they couldn’t give any more after getting into the position we did.
It’s time to reflect for now but also be excited for the future under new management. We need to hit the ground running in August and do everything we can to try and win this league! It’s not impossible.
Now the dust has settled somewhat a thanks to CR and players needs to be made . A truly remarkable end of season that nobody thought could happen did Thank you for that !
My mind now turns to our former manager and maybe its time for him to tell his version of this seasons events . Or reveal what's behind all those cryptic messages in many of his latter interviews
Maybe that's one for you Dave and thanks for the updates from an exile stuck out in the wilds of West Cumbria.
I'm just interested in what's happened behind the scenes as he's referred to in a number of those interviews. Did we run out of budget to bring in that striker or two when he binned off Zanzala ? There's got to be a reason to leave us with just Peers as the only recognised no9 and why sign that lad White who made a couple of subs appearances. Or did the board just loose faith in CM .
Fair enough but the two targets he identified went elsewhere according to him in one interview but he never said who or where. There was a lot of smoke and mirrors from him this past season.
Excellent summary, Dave. It was like watching the Boxer who had that one fight too many. The players had clearly given their all over the last 10 games, but were done.
We'll all be there next season and I'm quiety confident that we'll have a more consistent season and will challenge again.
Thanks Dave, you've added a lot to the 'experience' in the second half of the season. I don't want to hear from Callum, just wish he had gone after Bedford at home. Imagine where we'd possibly have been with Connell in charge. I wish he would stay in some capacity but can see an opportunity arising for him at this level.

UTS 🦭
And what a season its been. Time for them to take long earned rest and hopefully see some of them faces again next season!
An an excellent article.Connell and the players did an excellent job and am already looking forward to next season’.

I think we heard enough from him during his post match ramblings. For me it was excuses to hide his shortcomings, no need to give him air time

Questions need to be asked .

Yep, no need to revisit all this old ground.
